The short decision
Muse Code is currently a Meta beta terminal agent powered by Muse Spark 1.2. Claude Code is Anthropic’s coding agent with documented terminal and desktop use, broader operating-system support, subscription inclusion, and supported third-party cloud-provider paths.
| Decision factor | Muse Code | Claude Code |
|---|---|---|
| Official installer platforms | macOS and Linux named | macOS, Windows, and documented Linux distributions |
| Billing shape | Direct token rates by tier | Included in paid plans; API/provider billing is separate |
| Model relationship | Muse Spark 1.2 co-trained with Muse Code | Claude model access depends on plan or provider |
| Parallel runtime claim | Persistent background agents documented | Use current Claude Code agent docs for chosen workflow |
| Data decision | Standard vs Contributor labels | Plan/provider and current Anthropic terms apply |
Do not flatten subscription and API pricing
Anthropic’s current pricing page says Claude Code is included with Pro and Max, while API access is a separate tab and third-party providers can have their own billing. Muse Code exposes direct input, cached-input, and output rates for its Standard and Contributor models.
Choose Muse Code if…
- Direct token-cost math is important to your trial.
- You want to evaluate Meta’s documented persistent-agent and event-log runtime.
- Your environment is macOS or Linux and the current beta access works for your account.
- You can make an informed Standard-versus-Contributor data-use decision.
Choose Claude Code if…
- Native Windows support or a documented range of Linux distributions matters.
- You already use a Claude subscription that includes Claude Code.
- Your organization needs a supported path through Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Foundry.
- Claude Code’s terminal, desktop, administration, and provider documentation better matches your deployment model.
A fair evaluation worksheet
Run a bounded fix, a test-backed feature, and a repository-understanding task. Record the plan quality, code-review burden, commands run, recovery behavior, and real bill or allowance impact. Keep proprietary-code policy identical across both tools so a cheaper or more available tier does not silently change the test conditions.
Continue with Muse Code pricing, the Contributor decision, and data and privacy before using production source.
